It all started with a last-minute Pro-Am on
the eve of the 1956 PGA Fort Wayne Open. The organizers had
no idea they were starting a venerable tradition that would
raise millions of dollars over the next 50 years. Nor did
they know they would help put Fort Wayne on the map by
bringing golf's most recognizable personalities and
Indiana's most popular celebrities to the city each year.
With names like
Palmer,
Nicklaus,
Trevino,
Zoeller, and
Couples just to name a few. Today, the Mad Anthonys is
a charitable organization made up of business leaders and
professionals in northeast Indiana. In the past 22 years
alone, it has generated more than $3.75 million for local
charities.

 This
year, the Mad Anthonys will host over 20 top Nationwide
Touring Professionals along with
several celebrity guests as team captains for our corporate
sponsors. From the
2007 Master Champion Zach Johnson to players like
Tom Lehman,
Jerry Kelly,
Chris Perry and
Jason Gore, they all honed their tournament skills
playing on the Nationwide Tour. So who will be next to
graduate to the PGA Tour? Jarrod Lyle, Ewan Porter, Darron
Stiles, Scott Dunlap, Matthew Every, Rick Price, Greg
Chalmers, Bubba Dickerson, Chris Smith.

 As
our region grows, so do its needs. In 2006, the Mad Anthonys
organization formed a partnership with the Children's Hope
House.
Beginning in 2007, proceeds from the Charity Classic will be
used exclusively for the support of this remarkable
organization, and our identities will be increasingly
connected. By joining efforts, we will raise the visibility
of both organizations.

For 51 years, the Mad Anthonys has presented Fort Wayne's
premier charity golf events. We've assembled celebrities,
professionals and fans to benefit great causes. We've used
our network and our spotlight to educate the community on
behalf of those in need.
We've raised money and we've raised awareness.

With increased sponsorships and in-kind
donations, our goal is to structure the Mad Anthonys Charity
Classic so that a full 90% of the proceeds will be made
available to the Children's Hope House. Mad Anthonys members
and the community at large will know that their
contributions make a significant impact on Children's Hope
House and the families it serves.
The Mad Anthonys also recognize that strong communities need
strong leadership networks. To this end, the organization is
renewing its commitment to provide quality networking
opportunities that reach beyond Fort Wayne and include all
of northeast Indiana. |
