A look back at the 2025 Red Coat Gala—and the people who made it unforgettable
At its core, the Mad Anthonys Foundation exists for one reason: to serve kids. That’s our purpose. It’s why we raise funds, why we host events, and why so many people come together year after year to support the mission. That hasn’t changed—and it never will.
Reconnecting with the Heart
At the end of 2024, the Board of Directors took a step back and asked a bigger question—not about purpose, but about heart. Were we doing enough to honor the legacy, the people, and the energy that built this foundation into what it is today?
That reflection led to one clear truth: our path forward is guided by the strength of our past.
And for Mad Anthonys, the heart behind the mission has always been—and will always be—our Red Coats.
These are the individuals who’ve shaped our community and this foundation through decades of leadership, generosity, and service. They are local and national changemakers, mentors, business leaders, and advocates.
People like Mike and Kathy Eikenberry, who helped lay the very foundation we’re standing on today. People like Chuck Surack, Dick Teets, Tom Kelley, Rick James, Doug McKibben, Scott Sproat, and so many others whose legacies are part of what makes Mad Anthonys so recognizable and respected.
This year, we made a conscious decision to re-engage our Red Coats—to remind them that they are, and always will be, an essential part of who we are.
Because once you wear the red coat, you are forever part of this family.
Where Legacy Stepped Back In
For the first time in many years, the VIP hour was overflowing with Red Coats—past recipients reunited, laughing, hugging, reintroducing themselves not just to each other, but to the next chapter of this foundation.
The energy wasn’t in the decor (though it was beautiful), or the ambiance (though it was exceptional). The energy came from the people in the red coats. These men and women are the reason Mad Anthonys has the reach and reputation it does—and the reason our future feels so bright.
A Stage Full of Purpose
The program was filled with meaningful moments—none more powerful than when Caleb Kimmel, CEO of World Baseball Academy a 2024 Mad Anthonys Grant Recipient, took the stage. He reminded us that within the walls of the gala were men and women who have created lasting good—people affiliated with Mad Anthonys who are not only generous, but transformational.
And then came Coach Jon Coffman.
Coach didn’t show up just to smile for the cameras. He walked the red carpet with purpose—a man on a mission.
When he stepped onto the stage, the room changed. With characteristic energy and clarity, he reflected on Fort Wayne’s momentum—pointing out the cranes in the skyline and the growth taking root all around us. He reminded us that with progress comes opportunity: to give back, to reach further, and to ensure no one is left behind.
A Night to Remember
This year, we brought back both a silent and live auction to the evening—and the response was nothing short of incredible. From one-of-a-kind items to unforgettable experiences, the room lit up with generous bidding and spirited competition.
From custom suits and Colts packages to luxury getaways and rare collectibles—each bid made was more than just a transaction. It was a contribution to something bigger.
And We’re Just Getting Started
The 2025 Red Coat Gala was a night to remember—but more importantly, it was a reminder of who we are, what we do, and why it matters.
We’re strengthening our foundation—figuratively and literally. And thanks to all of you, we’re doing it with momentum.
Coach Jon Coffman and Mike and Kathy Eikenberry, congratulations and welcome to the Red Coat Family!
